Hello and welcome to my site. My Name is Josh
Hughes. I grew up in the small town of Frederick in southwest
OK. Growing up
I spent every minute I could in the country running the creeks
around my grandparent’s place hunting and fishing.
I loved being outdoors and being around anything that had
to do with animals or hunting and fishing.
After I graduated high school I moved to Tahlequah, OK to
play football and pursue a degree in Fish and Wildlife at
Northeastern State University.
While there I became interested in taxidermy and started
working as an apprentice under a master taxidermist for two
years. I first
became interested because I was racking up a pretty good
taxidermy bill myself every year and I figured I could save
myself a lot of money if I learned how to do it.
But, once I started doing taxidermy I loved it and I knew
I wanted to pursue a career as a taxidermist.
I get a great sense of pride and accomplishment every
time I can take someone’s trophy and make it seem “come back
to life.” |

After I spent two years learning I started
doing taxidermy on my own for the past five years.
I started out in Frederick and then worked with a company
in Claremore for awhile. After leaving there I moved south of
Tulsa and started Coyote Creek Taxidermy.
One of my greatest taxidermy accomplishments was a herd
of robotic deer that I mounted for a movie production company
out of Hollywood. The deer will be seen in a blockbuster movie
that will be coming out in theaters in the near future.
I graduated NSU with a fish and wildlife
degree a few years ago and since then I have also been managing
land as a wildlife consultant and guiding deer and turkey hunts
in different parts of the state. |
